CLS is currently going through an unprecedented and exciting period of growth and development and is now looking for a committed and motivated Environmental Chemistry Lab Supervisor to join our Environmental Department in Rosmuc.

Position: Operation Supervisor (Environmental Lab)

Reporting to: Director of the Department

Role: This is a role will have the responsibility for leading and coordinating the activities within the environmental chemistry laboratory and its operations with all its resources, in line with internal and external requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Formally manage the environmental laboratory
  • Scheduling and distribution of samples and work loads
  • Managing turnaround time of results and deadlines including the prompt entry of results and timely checking off and reporting process.
  • Analyst- and team development including coaching, organise training and perform appraisals.
  • Manage the holiday tracker
  • Ensuring integrity of results reported by the lab and compliance with ISO17025 requirements
  • Liaising closely with the Quality Control Department on any QC related issues
  • Support KPI measurements
  • Maximising all resources in your area and where appropriate implement changes that will enhance the operation and efficiency of the operation
  • Encourage good communication among all sections of the Chemistry Dept. as well as supporting inter-departmental communication
  • Flagging any down times or issues and communicating with your manager and the environmental administration office, to facilitate client notification where applicable.
  • Oversee purchasing and collaborate with Finance department on Vendor assessment

Criteria for this position:

  • 3rd level degree in Science or equivalent
  • Experience in environmental chemistry
  • Have a professional, pro-active approach to work, combined with proven strong leadership skills and an ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • History of being technically strong with excellent people skills
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good Microsoft office and LIMS user skills
  • Be capable of working on your own initiative
  • Be capable of motivating your team.
  • Ability to critically review analytical data with excellent attention to detail.
