The recipient, Evelyn gave thanks to the Cleggan Claddaghduff Community Council for her nomination. Evelyn was nominated for providing jobs in Galway that are embedded in the local community. As CEO and founder of Complete Laboratory Solutions, Evelyn employs over 150 people in the Galway region and is making huge impacts in her local community. In a previous interview with Richard Curran on TheBusiness on RTE Radio 1, Evelyn highlighted the important link between the curriculum in schools and local employment. She said:
Our local school didn’t have science on the curriculum in Rosmuc. I’ve had 18 applications from Connemara from new graduates. And I’d love to think that we have something to do with that. From my own village, where I am from in Cushatra, outside Clifden I’ve had three applications this year. I can hardly believe it because it is only a small village with a couple of houses. Clifden school are sending them through in great numbers.
RTÉ Broadcaster and TV Presenter Miriam O’Callaghan had this to say about the awards:
“It’s such a fantastic national celebration which recognises some truly amazing people across Ireland, from all communities and backgrounds.”
